SHIKRA Payload

The SHIKRA laser rangefinder leverages short, infrared laser pulses to precisely measure the time-of-flight between a host vehicle and an object of interest. SHIKRA provides high-precision range knowledge in a small, power-efficient form factor.

Peregrine’s advanced, precision-timing design ensures the oscillator always suits the mission, enabling range errors under 10 cm. SHIKRA reports information primarily through a UART interface, with the option to configure the system for RS-422. The laser rangefinder reports data at up to 100 Hz, and receives power from host voltages ranging from 5 – 32 V. Built on the CORVID power and timing architectures, SHIKRA is designed to operate over 5 years in Geostationary orbit.
